Further responsibilities

Device Testing Characterization (50%)
  • Set up and operate optical test stations for device evaluation. Experience in characterizing photonic integrated circuits is preferred. 
  • Perform advanced photonic device measurements, including fiber-to-fiber optical insertion loss and transfer function.  
  • Conduct photonic integrated circuit electro-optic measurements (VNA-based transmission line EE and modulator EO measurements) and support customers. 
  • Prepare and execute product validations for internal teams and demonstrations for external partners. 
  • Document test results, analyze performance trends, and support R&D with data-driven insights. 
  • Optional: contribute to automated testing workflows and support development of statistical process control (SPC) methods. 
Process Development & Cleanroom Activities (30%)
  • Execute and validate semiconductor fabrication processes and cleanroom operations, including D2W/W2W bonding, BEOL process steps, PECVD, metal deposition, and related unit process steps. 
  • Collaborate with R&D to develop, refine, and qualify fabrication processes.
  • Ensure process stability, reproducibility, and compliance with cleanroom protocols. 
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of fabrication workflows and documentation. 
Supply Chain & Supplier Interaction (20%)
  • Participate in technical discussions with key suppliers, including equipment vendors.
  • Support R&D in evaluating supplier capabilities, process compatibility, and equipment requirements.
  • Assist in aligning internal process needs with external manufacturing and equipment roadmaps.
  • Contribute to supplier qualifications and follow-up on critical process steps.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on experience with optical testing and cleanroom work is required.
  • Experience with automated testing, SPC, or high-speed measurements is Ability to work independently in a fast-paced R&D environment.
  • Optional: Experience with high‑speed measurements.
  • Strong communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Analytical mindset, attention to detail, and a strong willingness to learn new technologies.
